This lesson covers the pairing process for Socket Mobile barcode scanners on the Point of Sale. Barcode scanning is an optional feature, and the Universal Product Codes, or UPCs, must be set up in the catalog manager prior to using the scanner. To learn how to set up UPCs for products, please see the Creating an Item lesson.
The only supported scanner is the SocketScan S740 Universal Barcode Scanner.
Pairing the Reader
First, go to the Tools page, then to the About section.
Next, tap on the Barcode Scanner option, then select Bluetooth Scanner. A window will open where you can see the instructions to pair the reader.
Turn on the reader, then scan the barcode. After it beeps three times, go to your device’s Bluetooth settings. Select the Socket reader, then go back to OrderPort. Once the reader beeps, you are ready to scan.
