Quickbooks Modes

The OrderPort Quickbooks integration allows you to import information to Quickbooks. The integration offers two modes, depending on your setup preferences and the information you’d like to see in Quickbooks.

Sales Receipts

In the Sales Receipts mode, all orders are imported to Quickbooks, providing a high level of detail. This includes specific product data, as well as individual sales tax and shipping charges for each order. For this mode to function, your product catalog must be precisely mapped between OrderPort and Quickbooks. With a big catalog, this may be a time consuming process. Additionally, the Sales Receipts mode offers the option for customer mapping between the two platforms, though this is not a requirement.

Journal Entry

On the other hand, the Journal Entry mode imports similar information but in a summarized format, rather than linking to individual orders. When data is imported from OrderPort into Quickbooks, Quickbooks receives the total revenue for each product category, without tracking individual products linked to specific orders. This summarization process is also applied to aspects like sales tax, payment methods, and shipping. For the Journal Entry mode to work, each product in OrderPort must be assigned a product category, and each category must be mapped to a Quickbooks account.

If your business does not require individual order information or inventory tracking within Quickbooks, Journal Entry is the recommended method.
